This posting below is from my good friend John Tackett.
James Dobson "Focus On The Family" announced on his radio show that the Federal
Courts should follow the will of the american people and put christans on the federal courts. (HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH???)
The Federal Judicary should follow the Constitution and not the petty
fantasies of ideologues like James Dobson. The Federal
Courts have to be independent of the executive and legislative branches of our
national goverment. They follow the constituion so it is fair to all americans.
The Courts shouldn't have Judges that are just christian, that is not the
point of the matter. See Dobson and the rest of his nutty ilk
believe in "Judical Activism" and legislating from the bench whenever it fits their
agenda.(What do you call the selection in 2000 of George W. Bush as President??? ) When it doesn't fit then they cry "JUDICAL ACTIVISM".
They confuse what is going on in the courts and thats why our President
nominates "Rachel Dratch from Saturday Night Live"
Oh! I mean Harriet Meirs to the Supreme Court of the United States of
America.. (are you kidding me????) Let me guess this is Bush Affirmative Action for his buddies???.

Hey Tony, great show. I especially enjoyed how you and Kevin handled that Utah Mormon guy. Not because you were 100 percent right or knowledgeable about Mormonism (you aren't!...and it really showed.) but because that Mormon boy was so ignorant of his own religion.
Like peace and justice matters. He tells us all that the LDS Church is all about peace. Yeah, right, but how would he know? BYU has the biggest ROTC program on the planet. How peaceful is that? When the Mormon prophet Spenser W. Kimball gently but firmly suggested that Mormons should not support the military-industrial complex he was greeted with silence by his supposed followers. "We are on the whole a warlike people. When faced with difficulties we become prowar instead of pro-kingdom of God. We trust in our missiles and fortifications, thus perverting the words of our Saviour 'love your enemies, bless those who curse you.'" Then Kimball reminds the Mormons of promises coming straight out of the Book of Mormon that if the Saints are righteous they do not need arms of any kind. Ignored. They don't believe the Book of Mormon's own promises...but they sure want you to believe that Book of Mormon is true! How many Mormons know Kimball said this. How many know the Mormon Church opposed the nuclear arms race and condemned the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings as well as the universal draft? I'll tell ya....nobody, including that know nothing that called you, he hasn't the slightest clue what it means to be a Mormon...or even more important, what it once meant.
Evolution. Unless you happen to be a prairie Mormon i.e. "Community of Christ", chances are you believe in a "necessary" and "non-contingent" universe. This means that God is not transcendant with reference to the cosmos, God is part of the cosmos just like everone and everything else and must obey the laws of the universe. Thus Mormon cosmology alone demands that Mormons believe in some form of evolution. I went to BYU. They don't teach creationism there. They teach evolution.
Besides, Mormonism has generated some pretty good science fiction on the basis of its evolutionary cosmology.
Anyway, the Mormon guy was a moron guy. Still, one of the callers responding to him was sillier still. "do you know what Mormons do in their temples" as if it were some kind of secret and some kind of scandal. No, as a matter of fact Mormons do not symbolically act out a throat-slitting gesture, not since 1990. In any case, the Mormons were simply using a Masonic template for the Christian confirmation-rite in which Christians are anointed to the kingly, priestly and prophetic office of Christ...or as the Mormons put it, being ordained a king and priest, queen and priestess. Mormons are slowing edging toward the early catholic template....a good thing in my estimation.
Blacks and priesthood...gee, all he can say is that change is good. Well yeah, I suppose...but Joseph Smith, the founder of the Mormon Church ordained blacks to the priesthood and used to talk about the blessings that blacks and all other people would share in the Temple. What the h*ll was Brigham's problem?
I bet that Mormon boy is a capitalist sychophant as well. Capitalism is next to godlines, you know. Forget that 19th century Mormons were friggin' socialists!
